What I Got For Christmas

I've seen quite a few bloggers put up these posts and most have them have inspired me to 1- make a post of my own and 2- work out what I want for my birthday!

Firstly, I just want to note I'm not doing this post to show off at all,I simply enjoyed reading others posts and thought it would be fun.

Lady Gaga- The Fame and Burberry- Touch

I got a sampler of The Fame in a Glossybox last year and thought it smelled lovely. I love the packaging, it looks like a pretty hand grenade and that it's actually black. The shower gel is great too. It smells fruity but its super weird washing with black soap.
Burberry touch is my favourite perfume (apart from all of Britneys), my mum realised I was running low and got me a huge bottle. Happy Mariah!!

New boots!!
I work as a office manager on a construction site so every item of clothing I own ALWAYS gets dirty. But I'm starting at a new site in Chelsea I need to start dressing a lot nicer. Love these

Electric toothbrush!
As silly as this sounds, I've wanted an electric toothbrush for ages but been too lazy to get one. Hopefully this will make my teeth whiter

Ciate nail polishes
My sister is awesome, she knows how much I love painted nails. This selection is great. It has nudes, glitter and lovely plain colours. Can't wait to use it

Benefit Brow Zings, Bare Minerals Powder, Real Techniques Powder Brush
I have a serious obsession with eyebrows, I'm forever trying to perfect mine. My sister bought this which includes mini tweezers, wax and blending powder. I'm going to review it soon because WOW its awesome. I never really use powder so this is new to me, excited to try this brush too.

Bra and socks
Being a bit saucy and showing my underwear. But I love lingerie,it just oozes sexiness haha. Really like the nude colour. My boyfriends sister got me piglet socks, how cute are they! His parents got me a matching pink throw for me to relax on the sofa with. I'm currently wrapped up in it sick watching Tangled!

Swarovski Crystal Tinkerbell
My boyfriend knows that Tinkerbell is one of my favourite characters. I didn't think something like this existed. I almost cried when he gave it to me.

Other things I got was scented candles, tickets to see Panic! at the Disco, Star Trek 2 on Blu Ray, baking books and other little treats.

Well hope you enjoyed my post. Link me to yours below!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Sorry about the late post, been so busy with all the family around.

Christmas has a become a difficult time for me. It should be all about family and love. Christmas Eve is my Gran's birthday, and my family and my cousins all go round and spend time with her. Last year my uncle had a terrible stroke and is bed bound so he doesn't come anymore. It really makes me sad for the whole day. But I did speak to him on the phone!!

So I left my Mums house, and off to my Gran's for PARTYTIME. We got drenched by the random rain, so as soon as I got in I changed. My Mum called this my 'Hip Hop Dancer Look'
You love my furry socks!
Peace Slouch Top- Forever 21
Ying Yang Leggings - Topshop

Normally, we order a huge feast of Chinese and completely pig out. This year the food was SO bad. I'm talking fried at least three times. My Gran had a chip and her stomach turned straight away

So I ended up having a ham sandwich and a bottle of cider. Better for my waistline I suppose!!

Christmas day was lovely. My family don't really have that much money so I'm never expecting extravagant presents. But I loved everything I got. I will post a 'What I Got For Christmas' soon as I want to use my camera rather than my phone.
Christmas Outfit!
Heart top - H&M
PVC High Waisted Skirt - New Look

Look I curled my hair! I actually had done perfect curls, but I brushed my fingers through them so it came out super messy and more like me :P

Okay... My Christmas dinner looks abysmal. You can see the plate! And for some reason my gravy looks green haha. But I personally think I did amazingly not to pig out on the amazing food my Mum and brother prepared.

I decided to stay away from Boxing Day sales and spent it with my brother and Mumma. Can you guess what else I did?

Yes, I felt the need to workout in a Britney Spears inspired outfit.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas next year. I've already planned to stay at my flat with my boyfriend so it will be our first Christmas together. Exciting!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and I want to thank you all for reading my blog. It might not be the best one around but your comments make me smile!

Review: Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser

If you've read my blog before you know I have oily skin. My post on dealing with it is HERE. Using that mask is great, but when it comes to moisturising my face... the oily issue is back.

I have tried several oil free moisturisers but they never seem to last very long and I start looking shiny and horrible again. I know there are several matte primers out there, but I tend to use them before my make up routine and I feel they don't moisturise. Thats where Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser comes in.

This moisturiser contains 'superfruits' Blackcurrant and Goji Berrys, which quickly absorb into your skin. The blackcurrant extract absorbs all the excess oil in your skin which gives that matte finish. The goji berry makes your skin brighter. I tend to get alot more spot breakouts due to excess oil around my forehead and cheeks, but since using this product my skin is looking great! This moisturiser doesn't dry out your face in order to get that matte effect. It balances with your skin to maintain the right amount of oil. I love that it doesn't make your face feel or even look dry. Sometimes I avoid moisturising to stop the excess oil but I end up getting the feeling that when I smile my and face hasn't been moisturised properly my skin cracks.

The texture is similar to the texture of a primer. It doesn't feel oily and overly creamy in your hand. I also don't feel that I need to use as much to get coverage for my whole face. It has a lovely fruity smell which of course is due to the added superfruits, but its not overbearing which I love.

I must admit, I didn't think the matte look would last all day. The problem I had with other oil free moisturisers was that it's great at first but by lunch time I would look like tin foil!! Hand on heart... I can say that my face looked matte when I came home after a hard days work. I tried to take a photo... but it really didn't give this product the justice it deserves.

It also boasts that its free of the icky stuff that you get in other creams. Such as : Parabens, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Animal Ingredients and Mineral Oils.

You can get it from boots for £5.33 if you get there quickly. Otherwise normal price is £7.99.

P.S- Sorry about the photo quality recently. I left my camera at my flat and I'm currently staying with the family til after Christmas. Also... I'll be putting up my first Christmas Themed Blog later :)

Keeping healthy during the Christmas Holidays

I'm 98% sure its difficult to eat completely healthy over the Christmas period. I think all rationality just goes out the window and my favourite words become 'seconds' and 'more'. This Christmas, I've worked out a way to attempt to keep the weight down.

Not quite Millie Mackintosh just yet!

1. Get an app to track your food content!
I downloaded My Fitness Pal which was free from the Google Play store. It great and has so many foods on it. You can also add recipes, scan items with the barcode scanner, add your exercise for the day. It tracks your progress as well as your daily intake of calories, vitamins and salt. I think its one of the best apps I own!

2. Drink Water!
Okay I think I add this to every list I make - I'm sorry! BUT water is great for you. Alot of festive food have a high salt intake which makes you retain water and feel bloated. Fizzy drinks and wine have alot of hidden calories and sugar. By all means treat yourself but dont forget your water!!

3. Dance Away
I lost most of my weight doing Zumba as dancing uses all parts of your body. So this Christmas get dancing to the songs playing! My favourite tradition is making a playlist with my brother for him and my sister to dance to after all those Christmas TV specials. This year Work Bitch by Britney is number one on that list!

4. Squeeze a quick workout in
Everyone's busy around Christmas but it's no excuse not to workout. Anything can be a workout if you put your mind to it. Need to buy something you missed off the big Xmas shop? Have a jog to the local shop. Or walk the dog. Get that body moving. I personally always take a fitness DVD or game with me to my Grans... she even joins in!

5. Don't overeat!
I feel like a teacher telling kids off saying this, but it really is the Golden Rule. At Christmas time everyones eyes are bigger than their stomach. But think about it 'Can you really finish that second bit of Turkey?' and most importantly... 'Should you?'

Anyone got any other good tips for healthiness during the Christmas period, comment below

OOTD- Early Christmas Date

Hello all. It's nearly Christmas, who's ready? I for one am not. Someone please help me!!

Last night my lovely boyfriend decided that we would have our Christmas together early as we're going to be separated during the holidays.

We went to a Thai restaurant called Mae Ping and goodness it was gorgeous. I ate A LOT.
Given that we were treating the night as a celebration we both decided to dress up.
Yes, I decided to wear a braless summer dress when there was hail and lightning. But in my defence it wasn't raining when I left, the restaurant is close to my house and it's a nice dress!

Dress: New Look - £17.99
Tights: New Look - £4.99
Shoes: Zara - £40

I keep getting asked why I have my hair up, and the honest answer is my hair needs to be relaxed and cut. It's in awful condition so glad I'm seeing my hair dresser before Christmas!

What do you think of my outfit? Comments below :)

Weekly Dinners

As you know, I'm constantly dieting. Ive actually been put on a low calorie, low salt diet so I won't retain all that water while I'm on these steroids.

Watching out for salt is food isn't fun. There is so much in prepackaged food so always read the label. Sainsburys are great as they have a traffic light system so I always search for products with the most  green sections

I wasn't gifted with the talent of being a cook, but my lovely boyfriend is trying to be a chef so he is always ready to learn new recipes. We've got into the routine of every Monday I email him recipe ideas at work ,he tweaks them slightly and then we shop for ingredients. He cooks, I bake and clean. We make a good team.

The first meal we had this week was Spice and Lime Chicken and you can get the recipe HERE. This was absolutely lovely. I'm always a bit cautious of yogurt in my food because I'm scared it will turn my stomach but this was just right. There was even leftovers that I took to work the next day.

On Wednesday we had Baked Turkey Meatballs with Crispy Potatoes and Broccoli. You can find the recipe HERE. This was my favourite. Turkey is the leanest mince around so it's great for low calorie and low fat meals.

We had Beef Stir Fry next. It was gorgeous. My boyfriend used sweet chilli sauce to stir fry the beef and used rice noodles and beansprouts. Beansprouts are my favourite thing in stir fry and practically calorie free.

Anyone got any other recipes for me? Comment below

Morning Puffy Face Remedies

Morning all.
Now I can't be the only one that suffers from a puffy face sometimes in the morning. It just looks awful and takes me well into the afternoon to get rid of it. Luckily, I have 5 simple ways to stop the dreaded puffball face

1. Drink water

Water really is gods gift and drinking it has several health benefits. Clearer and brighter skin are some of them. It flushes out toxins in your body and keeps you hydrated. I tend to have a glass of water before bed and I can notice the difference in the morning.

2. Wash your face with cold water in the morning.

I can't believe I'm telling people to do that in the winter months, but I guarantee this helps as well as giving you a sharp wake up call.

3. Try a cup of herbal tea.

When I moved to my new flat with my boyfriend he didn't understand why I needed a whole cupboard for my teas. I have about 12 different varieties of herbal tea. Just like water, they cleanse and have health benefits. My favourites are fennel and peppermint.

4. Get the right amount of sleep

As adults we're supposed to get 8 hours of sleep a night, I most definitely don't. Well I blame Netflix and tumblr for my sleepless nights. Series 6 of Gossip Girl was just added!! On the otherhand, puffy morning face can also occur when you have too much sleep.

5. Less Alcohol

Yep, put that third glass of Rosé down. Alcohol causes bloating. I tend to feel really bloated in my stomach as well as in my face after a night out. If you are gonna have a night out with the girls follow my first tip and your face will be less puffy and that headache might not be so throbbing.

I know there are some beauty products that apparently stop the puffy face, but I have such sensitive skin im too scared to try. Anyone tried anything?

Metcalfes Skinny Rice Cakes- Review

Hello all!

I've been dieting for the last three years of my life I'm sure. Creating tasty diet meals are getting easier, it's diet snacks that need to up their game. Luckily I've found Metcalfe's Skinny Rice Cakes. And they are delicious.
Rice Cake Head

Normally I find rice cakes to be bland and boring, almost like eating paper but these rice cakes have a layer of chocolate on them(Milk chocolate, Dark chocolate or yogurt). I'm not the biggest chocolate fan so thankfully there's just enough to make it tasty without being overwhelming.

Front of packet
Back of packet (look! its healthy!!)

I found these in Greggs for 99p, and you get three rice cakes in a pack. It's gluten free and suitable for vegetarians (sorry Bey and Jay Z, maybe after your vegan cleanse). It's only 83 calories per rice cake so it's great as a snack when dieting or need a pick me up after a gym session

I know Metcalfe's do other products that are low calorie and tasty such as sweet and salted popcorn (yum!) and I've just heard about this corn crisps they have just released. As soon as I find them I will write a review.

Now I'm off to eat the last one out of the packet before my boyfriend does!

Anyone tried any other Metcalfe products? Comment below

P.S. If you read my last post thank you so much. It was a very personal topic and I was so nervous to share with you all.

Hello all, How is everyone doing?

This post is going to be a personal one. I hope you don't mind.

I'm sure i've mentioned that I'm not the healthiest person around and here's the reason why.

In 2010, I found it difficult to climb stairs, get up off the sofa and walk fast. I went to the doctors who said I needed a blood test. When the results came back my CK levels were 22,000. To be honest I can't even tell you what CK does or is, but it happens when your muscles are damaged. CK levels are normally raised after a heart attack...and I definitely haven't had one of those. Normal levels are 30 - 135 so I was wayyyy over. I was put in hospital for three weeks while doctors monitored my CK Levels. Staying in hospital was horrid...I actually witnessed someone die in front of me.

On release I was given steroids to take to make the levels go down. I started at 60mg- 11 tablets per day. At first I was happy that I wouldn't be ill any more until I started to get the side effects. I found it difficult to sleep days after being home but I figured that was due to being in the hospital and the  death of that old woman.
Before Getting ill. Wow my arm was skinny
But as the months went on I noticed the weight gain. From being a size 8 and weighing 8.5 st I ballooned to a size 12 14st. My face had puffed up so much my eyes constantly looked like they were half closed. It shattered by confidence, and I also started to get anxiety attacks. I lost friends because I was ashamed to go out, the anxiety of getting the tube to places was too much and the most upsetting... when people just didn't care that I was ill. I got ridiculously depressed. I constantly felt like I was falling in a deep hole and couldn't climb out. I used to cry myself to sleep because I hated myself so much and didn't want to wake up in the morning.
Puffy Moon Face

Along with the steroids I was put on methotrexate. Its normally used to treat cancer patients as it lowers your immune system. The side effects of this drug aren't great either. I always feel sick and lose my hair when I take them.

On February 14th 2013, I thought that I had taken my last dose of steroids. I was finally happy. All the exercise and eating healthy had paid off. I continued to eat healthy and was starting yoga to build my muscle strength
A cheeky old OOTD photo. 8 months after last steroids dose

Last week I was told that my CK levels have risen again. Only to 1500, but that's still high.  I don't even feel ill or weak. My initial reaction was 'Shit I can't go through this again' and I spent ages crying on my bedroom floor. I'm only starting on 15mg which is a much lower dose so hopefully the side effects won't be that bad. I realised I HAVE been through this before and I'm not gonna let it get to me. I've devised a diet plan and exercise plan, and already planned things to do that keep me happy.

So..thats my personal blog over...let the embarrassment commence. I will most likely use this as an output for when I'm feeling down or wanna discuss the challenges I'm going to have to face

Comments below as always

Soap & Glory- The Scrub of Your Life Review

Hello lovelies, how have all been? It's December which means Christmas and New Year is soon. To be honest, i'm not a huge Christmas fan. Being around too many family members makes me anxious. But New Years is my favourite time of the year. I'm so excited!

Its getting colder and you have to look after your skin alot more. Even though most of my skin is hidden I still love smooth, supple skin which is why I need a good exfoliator. I also have eczema, so I need an exfoliator that wont dry out my skin. And thats where *TA DA* Soap and Glorys The Scrub of Your Life comes in.

The Scrub of Your Life

Soap and Glory products are a favourite of mine. A little bit pricey at times, but the products last longer than others and it always feels a bit more luxurious than cheaper brands.

The Scrub of Yoru Life is the second exfloiator i've bought from this range. The first was Flake Away.
Can you see the tiny beads?
This scrub is awesome. As well has having a lovely, sweet fragrance its in a squeezey bottle so you can get the amount you want. I always got annoyed by the Flake Away tub- grabbing bits of scrub and getting it under my fingernails.  The scrub contains little beads that scrub as you rub your skin, it also creates a foam. I think the fact that its foamy helps as some exfoliators can be too harsh on the skin and you feel like you're being scratched.
Foamy Scrub :)
My legs feels so smooth and looks healthier. I also used it on my elbows where I always seem to get eczema and the skin there isn't dry or hard Rhinoceros skin -My older sister used to call me that when I was younger due to my condition...just realised how mean that is!

I would recommend this product, if you want the smoothest legs around, but its also great for other areas of your body.

Maybelline Eyestudio Master Duo

Whenever the question 'What make up product can you not live without' is asked my immediate answer is 'eyeliner'. I've tried them all. Started with pencil, then to liquid, then to gel. I've tried the winged look, the Pete Wentz look, and the barely visible look. Lets just say... I know eyeliner well.

There are times when I want a dramatic line to go with my dramatic false lashes and other times when I just want a thin line such as at work where I'm surrounded by men that will never understand fashion or beauty products or why I fancy Chris Hemsworth.

That's where Maybellines Eyestudio Master Duo comes in.
Maybelline Eyestudio Master Duo

The premise is simple, one eyeliner brush that creates two different lines. A round tip to create a bold line, and if you turn it 90 degrees a flat tip to create a thin line.

Thin applicator

Thick applicator

I first used this on a night out so I decided to use the round tip for a thicker line. It sounds silly, but I really like the pot and brush. I've been using the Collection 2000 liquid eyeliner and I never get the amount that I want straight away but with this I had just enough.
Thick eyeliner line (note lack of mascara)

I learnt a tip from my sister about applying liquid eyeliner. Always hold your breath as it steadies your hand.

I went for the thinner line for when I go to work, and for casual times. I'm normally terrible at getting the line right on the lash line, but this makes it so much easier. It's also good for creating different designs and flicks...but I'm terrible at that.
Thin eyeliner line (lack of mascara again)

Has anyone else tried this? Or got another product that's better? Comment below, even if its anonymous.

p.s Sorry about the crappy pics this week. Had to use my phone cause my camera made it look crap!

OOTD -Dizzys Diner Date

Hey guys! Just a quick OOTD post.

My boyfriend just got a promotion and decided to treat me to a meal tonight. We went to a place called Dizzys Diner that serves great american style food. Well kinda haha! I had a chicken burrito and my boyfriend had a chilli hot dog. It's probably a good idea that he's playing football tomorrow and I'm doing Zumba. I am stuffed!

#BritishBloggerSelection - Week Three - Favourite Clothes Shop

I can actually remember the first time I stepped into Topshop. My mum kept telling me that I needed a 'decent pair of jeans, not the crappy ones from the market'. Actually... she didn't say crappy but I think this post should be kept PG.

I absolutely love Topshop. It's fashionable, trendy and sells good quality clothes. I guess it can be a tad expensive, but the clothes I buy there lasts for ages. They have lovely accessories too. I always seem to end up buying rings or earrings to go with my outfits.

One thing that always guides me to Topshop is the fact that they have a TALL and Petite range. I'm 5'8 and a size 6, and I find it so difficult finding clothes that fit properly. I get jumpers that don't fit the length of my arms, tops that always ride up and show my horrible stomach and finally ankle swingers for jeans or trousers.

Here are some of my Topshop purchases  :)

If I was a song-writer I would write a lovesong about Topshop. But alas, i'm just a blogger.

OOTD - Moody Sofa Shopping

Okay, I promise my next OOTD I won't look so moody, but today I have reason.

My boyfriend and I moved into our flat on the 7th of September and ordered a sofa back in August. The sofa company told us it would be 8-10 weeks. They delivered it last week... But couldn't 'fit' one in my flat and it was leather when we ordered fabric. THEN they planned to replace it yesterday, but bought the wrong size and colour. In the end we both got tired and asked for a full refund. So today we ventured to DFS and bought a lovely sofa, sofa bed and foot stool that should arrive in two weeks. Hooray!!

Moody Mariah
I love this hoodie as it reminds me of when I used to do hip dancing! It's warm and goes great with dark jeans or leggings

Black skinny jeans are my favourite item of clothing EVER. It most likely goes back to my days where I wore nothing but black and wanted to be a girlfriend of someone that was in a band

My converse were originally the plain black and white ones, but when we were in college my boyfriend decided to spray paint them. Now I tend to use them when I go to gigs or when I quickly have to go out.
